Tonight ’s Apple eventpromises much .
There ’s been lecture that we might , at long last , seebrand - new AirPods , but most bullish of all are the promises of the next multiplication ofMacBook Pro .
The rumours swirling around the next genesis of Apple laptops have promised details and features that seem to appeal to just about every pall - hard Mac lover . There ’s been talk of USB ports , HDMI , possibly even South Dakota carte readers . The Touch Bar will be replaced by function keys , and the classical MagSafe charging standard will make a comeback on the Mac , after its fairly welcoming response on the iPhone .
Sounds just like a2015 MacBook Pro , does n’t it ? It voice like a ambition fare straight for nostalgic Mac devotee who long for a time before today ’s minimalist machines . The perceptual experience seems to be that this is the MacBook Pro we ’ve all been wait for , after a few years of confusion within Apple .
I do n’t need to be That Guy , but now might be a in force prison term to adjust your expectation .
Don’t get your hopes up
Consider for a moment that the hearsay are completely wrong , just like several of the hearsay lead up to the Apple event in September .
Before that result , there were sure-footed report that the Apple Watch would get itsbiggest design change yet . Sure , the watch make a slenderly larger screen , but otherwise the change were minimal . We never saw the flat bound that were talk about so much .
Even renowned analysts like Ming - Chi Kuo were wrong about the Apple Watch Series 7 . This is an important reminder that the rumour John Mill can get it wrong – badly improper , in fact .
Look forward, not back
It ’s sane to bear Apple to have listen to the criticism of the current MacBook Pro , such as being a little too strip down when it amount to ports . The transition to USB - C and Thunderbolt never hap as quickly as Apple probably hoped ; not every group discussion elbow room is able to lash out a USB - C cable at the free fall of a hat .
But Apple does n’t tend to be very nostalgic either , and to conceive that everything will go back to the way Macs looked before 2016 is to go for for the awry thing . Apple can change , as it did with the controversial keyboards , but it rarely – if ever – just revert to something old .
Instead , remember of this as a brand - new multiplication of MacBook Pro , in which Apple gets to make young choices about what should be in the equipment ’s feature put for the 21st century . I in person have a hard time imagining that will involve a bunch of USB - A ports .
More problems
spice up this up with other potential problem . Maybe the next AirPods are further delayed ? peradventure the MacBook Pro does n’t ship until next yr ? This year ’s October issue could be a heady cocktail of high expectation and sulphurous letdown .
Hopefully we ’ll get everything we ’ve always wanted in the next - generation MacBook Pro , but there ’s also a literal fortune that the rumours have been magnified , or are plainly faulty .
Apple ’s event will be held tonight ( Monday 18 October ) at 6 postmortem UK time . Here’show to look out the event live , and Macworld will be reporting on the announcements throughout the even .
