After a prolonged period of hibernation , the company ’s spring result is now expected , at least according to thelatest report , to take place on Tuesday , March 8 , on the other side for a troupe that tend to aim for the second one-half of March or early April . Calendar purists will maneuver out , indeed , that it ’s not even technically spring , but part of the drab shadow end of winter that everyone loves so much . * With no launch to address of ( outside of OS update andan Apple Watch band ) in November , December , January and almost certainly February , Apple has made us wait , but perhaps we should be thankful it is n’t making us wait even longer .

There are three main products we expect to be unveiled at Apple ’s March issue . ( As ever , Apple reveals nothing beforehand , so bear in mind that these are educated guesses based on news leak and industry gossip . ) None of them will set up your pulsation racing , but they will be quietly all-important launches .
The iPad Air , asuperb mid - range tabletthat was inexplicably neglected for the entireness of 2021 , islikely to be updated . If it continues the custom of pushing closely to the iPad Pro on quality and to the canonical iPad on Leontyne Price , we could be looking at another insta - recommend with a new chip and television camera . We ’re also hearing that Apple will unveil anew high - destruction Mac miniwith M1 Pro and M1 Max chips . Again , this is about hitting theinbetweenersweet fleck : the sound of both worlds , offering capability beyond the entry - level models at a terms that the average consumer can live with .
But the king of the sensible intersection launches will be the raw iPhone SE .
The iPhone SE wo n’t wait much different on the outside but it ’ll take important internal change .

5G on a budget
There is a reason multitude love the iPhone SE , and that is its price . ( It ’s a piffling more complicated than that , but not much . The smaller sizing is n’t the USP we think it was , as shown by the sales unsuccessful person of the iPhone 12 mini . Sorry , Mr. Macalope . ) If you lower the price of your phone , more people will purchase it . Thanks for coming to my TED talk .
Apple does n’t wish to give the SE much attention because a ) it would obviously rather sell $ 1,000 phones than $ 400 ones and b ) part of the company ’s sell is the cool lifestyle fantasy it has constructed around its products , and you ca n’t force that so much with budget devices . Journalists , meanwhile , can often be drawn by the glint lure of ‘ young ’ , which the SE is never likely to satisfy . But customers love the affair .
So while theiPhone 14will get more headlines and tower inches , the new SE will make more difference to more masses . Quite away from improvement in public presentation ( multiplied by the long break since the last upgrade ) and access code to the later variation of iOS , this will be the first 5 G French telephone many will have been able to afford . Combined with the infrastructural advance we ’ve seen since the first compatible earphone put down , the SE update could herald the single big rise we ’ve yet seen in 5 G espousal .
Assuming Apple continue the novel SE under $ 400 , Apple will have another Brobdingnagian hit on its hands .
Technology for all
Apple has an odd relationship with “ budget ” products . Presumably out of concern of cocker the modus vivendi fantasy remark earlier , it does n’t refer to them in those term and often appears abashed to talk about them at all . The cheapest offering in Apple ’s stable is usually , at practiced , a mid - range offer for the average vendee ; the iPhone 5c disappointed a lot of people who anticipate it to be truly cheap .
