Psychologyis a comparatively new skill . The first somebody to call himself a psychologist , Wilhelm Maximilian Wundt , began his work in the 1860s in Germany and established the first - ever psychological science lab in 1879 . In the early 1900s , the scientific discipline of behaviourism arise . It focused less on the internal processes of the creative thinker and more on how mass act under given circumstances , some of which could be quite strange , depending on the experimentation .

Over the preceding hundred , psychologists have come up with a variety of creative ( and sometimes confutable ) ways to consider thehuman mind and behavior . Some of these experimentation occurred before strong protection for participants ' base hit ; others were honourable but get going to strange lengths to isolate a individual variable star or outcome . Test yourself on the eldritch account of some of psychology ’s most ill-famed studies here .
