A moose cow and its calfskin were recently attacked by a bear and a wolf at the same clip in what looks almost like a coordinated smash , remarkable Alaskan footage shows .

The footage hold up just a few seconds but showcases some of the dramatic conduct and interactions that occur in the Alaskan ecosystem — one of the last remaining place in North America with a lot of large wildlife .

" It ’s this fantastical , phenomenal dynamic pop off on in wild Alaska that makes this home so exceptional , " saidRick Steiner , a conservationist and environmental adviser who ’s worked in Alaska for 10 .

The video was captured this summer in Glacier Bay National Park , which protects more than 3 million acres ( 12,100 satisfying km ) of forests , heap and coastlines in southeast Alaska . The footage , taken by a camera gob , wasposted to Facebookby the Alaska Department of Fish and Game .

It start with the moose ( genus Alces genus Alces ) cow and sura walking calmly across the screen at nighttime . But soon , two pairs of eye rush along in from the dark and marvellous locoweed beside them . When slowed down , it ’s clear that one of those pairs of eye belongs to a dark-brown bear ( Ursus arctos ) , which leaps up and grabs the adult Alces alces after the moose charges at the bear .

As the adult Alces alces and the bear are locked in a fighting , however , the second pair of eyes — belonging to a wolf ( Canis lupus ) — runs after the juvenile moose , which shoot off - screen door .

Both brown bears and wolves will sometimes go after moose calf to try and grade a meal . But while the two predators probably were n’t exploit together , per se , they were in all likelihood aware of each other ’s presence , Steiner told Live Science .

" The bear was sure as shooting cognizant of the savage ; the wolf was for certain aware of the bear , " he said .

The Hugo Wolf may have been shadowing the brown bear , potentially with other wolves nearby and off - camera , Steiner said . And when the Alces alces blame at the bear , the wolf take in advantage of the calfskin ’s sudden defenselessness and went in for the kill .

There , the video ends , and it ’s unclear who end up gain ground the fight between the adult moose and the bear , and whether the wolf superintend to catch the sura . But Steiner think the adult European elk — which can reach about 6 foot ( 1.8 m ) improbable and pack a powerful boot — would have had the upper hand against the bear , especially because this bear seemed to be a juvenile person .

" I ’d put my money on the moose in that one , " he said .

From there , the adult moose in all likelihood run after her calf to try and resist off the Friedrich August Wolf ( or brute ) — where she ’d in all probability have the upper handwriting once again . " An adult Alces alces is a unnerving adversary for anything , " Steiner read .

While both brown bears and wolf once had wide home ranges in North America , Europe and Asia , these marauder are now mostly found in more northern latitudes and isolated areas — having been hunt to defunctness elsewhere . This snip " reminds us what a grand topographic point wild Alaska is , and there ’s a lot of interaction between wildlife specie out here , " Steiner said .

" And these [ areas ] are internal treasures … they need to be protected and nurtured and allowed to be wild . "
