I ca n’t quetch about the deficiency of exciting product from Apple in the last year , with a gorgeousbrand - new iMacand aMacBook Prothat delivered just about everything I dared to go for for .
But there are a few holes exit for Apple to fill . Here are the products I want , but so far have been wait for in conceited .
A cheaper screen for Apple users
look for a new sieve for your MacBook , Mac mini or even Mac Pro is n’t as straightforward as buy a smartwatch for your iPhone ( theApple Watch , of course ) .
Of naturally , any monitor with the right ports to connect to your Mac – USB - C , HDMI or whatever – will work . But sometimes we picky Mac hoi polloi need that little something extra : Thunderbolt 3 , True Tone to fit the MacBook ’s own screen , or the ability to line up the brightness of the external display using the Touch Bar .
TheLG UltraFine seriesof monitors volunteer just that , and are open enough for most Mac users . But they ’re also pretty dull in style . Apple’sXDR screensare nicer to look at , but the price tag will make you ptyalize out your coffee bean .
But perhaps , just possibly , Apple might now be working on afresh , Apple - branded displaywith a gloomy price tag for us mere mortals . Those of us who remember the Thunderbolt Display and Cinema Display are hoping this will be something standardised . It wo n’t be cheap , but at least it should be more reasonable than the XDR .
My sure-enough close presentation was reasonably New for its time when I bought it 12 old age ago , sport a 1080p resolution , HDMI and a 24 in board . But when it dead shuts itself off every now and then , I ’m cue of those hearsay about a new Apple blind . I ’m train for an Apple display that costs an arm and a ramification , but not an total eubstance .
Next-generation MacBook
I ’ve seen what Apple can do with the MacBook Pro . A retro - see excogitation , monster performance , and connectivity that soothes . Now I want to see this in a crummy manikin too , with similar thin screen bezels ( we canlose the notch , please ) , MagSafe and miniskirt - result .
Call it a MacBook ( the previse removal of the Air ’s iconic ‘ grinder ’ pattern makes rebranding a logical conclusion ) , rig a toll of no more than £ 1,200 , and I ’m sold . With the M2 , it ’ll credibly be faster than the 16 in Intel - powered model I have today .
say more about thenext MacBook Air .
The next iPad Air
At the second I have a four- … in fact almostfive - year - honest-to-goodness iPad Pro , and I ’m more than quick for a new iPad Air to take its place . This time one with a 120Hz concealment refresh pace .
I ’d have happily put back it with thecurrent iPad Air , if it were n’t for the refresh pace issue . Once you ’ve tried pantry smooth ProMotion 120Hz scrolling , there ’s no going back . But if I need a new iPad with 120Hz right on now , it has to be a Pro , and that ’s too expensive for my tasting .
Thesecond - gen Apple Pencilcharges smarter and fits better in the hand , and USB - C would be dainty for those occasion – maybe twice in amount – when I ’ve want to plug a gruelling drive directly into the tablet . But I do n’t take Pro performance . And the latest iPad Pro modeling are only too expensive , especially with accessories .
That ’s why my quondam iPad Pro 10.5 in is hang on for a while longer , until a new iPad Air with a 120Hz screen arrives .
…and the thing I’m not bothered about
Theglasses . Apple ’s VR / anything headset – what ’s really going on there ? The headset is apparently proceed to have both agaming and communications focus , but Apple and play have never go very well together . Apple Arcadeisn’t that exciting .
What about communication theory ? Are we going to see a metaverse version of FaceTime ? It ’s not something I miss in my everyday life-time , that much I know .
I ’m well-chosen to be proven untimely , but so far it smells like a floating-point operation or a farsighted shot . There are hatful of other things on my fantasy wish list to buy rather .
