Researchers captured a TV showing the orange - hue octopusclinging to the backof a large shortfin mako shark ( Isurus oxyrinchus ) as it swims .

This"sharktopus"was spotted in the Hauraki Gulf off the northern coast of New Zealand ’s North Island during a December 2023 research misstep .
