Bluetooth can be a useful technology for short - range connections , sometimes known as personal area connection ( PANs ) . We utilise Bluetooth for physical fitness bands , earbuds and earpiece , hotspot tethering , and input peripherals .

But sometimes your Mac seems to get the ill-timed idea about one or more gadget . Even after unpairing and re - pairing , you ca n’t make a connection . Or , worse , macOS wo n’t allow you remove a paired gadget from the Bluetooth predilection pane .

You have three reset options . If you have an intractable problem , I suggest protrude with “ readjust the Bluetooth module ” and then restart the Mac . This should clear up most problem with no further interposition .

If you still have gadget you ca n’t remove or couple properly , try “ Remove all devices . ” You then have to re - pair any Bluetooth hardware you use with your Mac .

The third of those reset options , “ mill reset all connected Apple gadget ” let you nuke the preferences on Apple keyboards , earbuds , phone , trackpads , and mice all at once and restore them to their factory state .
