The notification was straightforward enough from the Books app on my iPhone : “ Today ’s reading goal accomplish . Congratulations , you ’ve get through your daily reading end . ” A big blue checkmark keep company it . The only problem ? I had never set a reading goal .

We get enough pressure from reminders , alarms , timer , calendar events , and other popups and notifications in our lives that one more might promote us over the edge . For me , this reading goal was it : I sure enough did n’t require any help tracking my personal recitation .

That ’s one presentment in my life I do n’t ask .

The end is n’t set within a Good Book or the Books app , of path . Go toSettings > Booksin iOS / iPadOS and disableReading Goalsnear the bottom . The label say , “ Show time drop reading and other achievement in Apple Books . ” In macOS go toBooks > preferences / Preferences > Generaland uncheckEnable Reading Goals .

I do n’t know what these other achievement might be , and I acknowledge it ’s useful for some people to produce quarry and get positive feedback for meet them . If you ’re like me , however , you may muffle this extra detail , one I do n’t echo ever being prompted about or flex .
