The Kavachi Volcano is one of the most active undersea volcanoes anywhere on Earth.

Kavachi is a submarinevolcanothat is part of the Solomon Islands , around 15 air mile ( 24 km ) to the south of Vangunu Island . In 2015 , aresearch expeditiondiscovered multiple scallop lunkhead sharks ( Sphyrna lewini ) and silky shark ( Carcharhinus falciformis ) living within the vent ’s primal crater . It is unclear whether any of thesharksat Kavachi were hurt by the outburst that triggered the feather in the image or if they were able to sense the incoming volcanic eruption and evacuate the volcanic crater .
