Ten years is a farseeing time , but also ten years surpass chop-chop : Ten years ago , on the fifth October 2011 , Steve Jobs died of the consequences of his long - stand Crab .
One could have guessed it , on 24 August that year Steve Jobs gave up his position as CEO , promoting Tim Cook into the position . He indicated that he would remain active in an advisory capacity . Optimists therefore suspected and hop that Jobs would report from home plate , perhaps even appearing on television during the keynote introduction of the iPhone 4S on 4 October that year , but just a few day after the launch of the iPhone 4S he was dead .

Ten years after the demise of the laminitis and fabled product visionary , Steve Jobs is omnipresent in Cupertino – not only as the namesake of the Steve Jobs Theater , which Apple will hopefully be capable to fill with an hearing again next spring ( COVID-19 dependent ) .

Getting Apple ready for the world after iPhone
Jobs successor Tim Cook may be a footling more danger untoward than Jobs was . Although , despite being considered a dull technocrat by some Apple fanboys , Cook has made a lot of progress in terms of product . The Apple Watch has transform from jewelry into a health equipment . The move from Intel to Apple ’s own flake for the Mac – not without danger , but believably the best conclusion for the future of the Cartesian product . Or just the idea of blow up Apple ’s ecosystem in full term of services and thus ultimately make it independent of gimmick – this will pay off in the long term .
These new post - iPhone developments are important because , even if the iPhone continues to wreak in huge flows of money to Cupertino for a long time to come , the prison term after the smartphone has already begun .
The next big thing could already be add up from Apple . Soon we may see Tim Cook will show off Apple ’s first AR / VR glasses . But it ’s the software and services behind these young products that will be more important for Apple ’s future achiever . Apple must carry on to make software system instinctive to employ , just as the interface of the Mac was when it was showed almost 38 year ago . This is deeply frozen in the DNA of the company , and hopefully that DNA is still strong even with Steve Jobs give-up the ghost .
